Word of the Year 2020

It’s been a full year since my last blog post. I know, because it was my 2019 WOTY 😆 but I’m not going to let this get me down or crush my 2020 near year/new you (new decade) mindset! In my defense my 2019 WOTY was “present” and I think I accomplished that–especially in my family life.

Moving forward! My new WOTY is “CONNECT” and I’m so excited for the many opportunities this word has for me and my business.

I started working with a business coach in the fall of 2019 and we worked to really define what I want out of my business and work/life balance. I determined the best way I could define it, in a word, where it will ring true all year long is connection. Here are some ways I want to make connection happen in my business:

  • More in-person markets
I only had the chance to show up in person once in 2019 and I love being able to communicate with my buyers and potential clients. I receive great feedback and hope to get out there again this spring!
  • The reach out
I haven’t done “cold calls” or really any form of seeking my ideal clients in my business. Not even any real marketing! I had hoped (and it worked for a short time) that my clients would find me organically but after working with my coach I learned I need to be putting in the effort to get the clients that are the best fit for me.
  • Attend in-person conference
I haven’t been to a conference since 2018 partly because of family life (babies) and partly because I didn’t feel ready to get what I wanted/needed out of them. I don’t know if family life will allow for one this year but I’m going to work towards it just in case! More on this in another blog post coming soon.
  • Show up digitally
I’ve restarted my monthly newsletter, I’m feeling very optimistic about blogging now! and I want my whole website/purchasing, social media experience to feel effortless to make smooth connections.
  • New platforms!
Maybe be a guest on a podcast, maybe a guest blog writer, new creative ways to collaborate with fellow bosses. I’m most excited for this last bullet because I want to make the time and space to come up with creative ways to CONNECT!

Do you have a Word of the Year? I love this time of year to set the planning for my business and projects I’m dreaming up. Some great posts on Word of the Year/ Year planning/ 2019 recaps. I don’t think I’ll do a recap post this year but I’m loving the posts from Paper + Oats and Spruce Rd.
